In Brief... Air Corps Cadet

 Brief Description:

Enlists in the Air Corps to train as a pilot flying both conventional and combat aircraft.

The Irish Air Corp has over forty aircraft at its disposal. These aircraft are used in search and rescue missions, fishery patrols, VIP protection and defence. The majority of these aircraft are based at the Air Corps Aerodrome at Baldonnel, Co. Dublin.

An Air Corps Cadet is enlisted into the Air Corps to train to fly these aircraft. They may be required to carry out any number of the above listed tasks. Pilots in the Air Corp are among some of the most highly trained in the world.

Air Corps Cadets enlist for a period of twelve years. They will progress to the rank of Second Lieutenant after two years training, and to Captain after a further eight years. Promotions may be quicker in some instances.


Personal Attributes: calm, decisive, able to cope with emergencies, quick reactions.
