The National Career Skills Competition is now in its fourth year of introducing career skills to 2nd level students who have taken part in Work Experience. Sponsored by McDonalds Ireland there are 3 distinct competitions:
The competition requires that a Career Investigation is submitted by each participant. This facilitates a rich understanding of a particular occupation, including both the knowledge requirements and the career skills that characterise it.
Excellent prizes for the 9 winning students and their schools include: first prize in each competition is an Apple iPad, 2nd prize is a Nikon camera and 3rd prize is an Apple iPod touch. The winners each take home a cup or trophy for the school and €1,000 euro for the school programme!
The National Career Skills Award Ceremony 2012 will take place on Tuesday, 22nd May at the Clock Tower, Department of Education, Marlborough Street, Dublin 1.
The winning students, their parents, programme co-ordinators and principals will all be attending the prize giving ceremony. The national co-ordinators from all programmes and the Vice President of the IGC will be in attendance, as will key individuals in the area of guidance, education and industry.
