Organisations

What is an Organisation?

An organisation is collection of people from a range of occupations who work together to achieve certain goals, often guided by the organisations 'Mission Statement', (their purpose or function).

Organisations come in many forms - small businesses with just a few staff, to medium-sized companies or large corporations that may operate in several countries and in many different industries. They can also take the form of Associations, Foundations, Institutes, Co-ops and Societies.

Organisations are Unique.
Each organisation is unique, having a different 'personality' or culture. They often have different values - some value profit above all else, others are more 'family friendly', others are idealistic, and so on. Choosing an organisation that suits you is just as important as choosing a job - if your way of working or living is at odds with your employer, neither of you will be happy.
