The Public Appointments Service was established in October 2004 following the dissolution of the Office of the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commissioners by the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointments) Act 2004.
 
The Public Appointments Service is the centralised provider of recruitment, assessment and selection services for the civil service. We also provide recruitment and related human resource advisory services to Local Authorities, the Health Service Executive, the National Economic & Social Forum, An Garda Siochana and other public bodies.
